What does the yard detention audit need from me?

A CSV with three columns: a trailer or container id, time_in, and time_out. One day of gate records is enough. Timestamps like 2026-08-25 15:17 or 08/25/2026 3:17 PM both work.

Is my gate log uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is parsed and the report is drawn by JavaScript on this page. Nothing leaves your browser unless you choose to email yourself the summary figures.

Why does the report show hours instead of dollars?

Detention rates differ by contract. Hours beyond free time is the fact both a yard and a carrier can agree on, so the audit reports time only.

Accepted timestamps: 2026-08-25 15:17, 2026-08-25T15:17:00, 08/25/2026 15:17, 08/25/26 15:17, 08/25/2026 3:17 PM. A blank time_out means the trailer is still in the yard and is left out of the math. Exporting from our free gate log template works as-is.

How the audit is calculated

Turnaround is gate out minus gate in for each unit. Any turnaround longer than your free time counts as over, and the hours beyond free time are summed and divided by the number of operating days in your file. The report shows time only. Detention rates differ by contract, so hours over free time is the figure both sides can agree on.
